The foods that cause the most inflammation include sugar (and all of its other names such as high fructose corn syrup) processed foods, alcohol, coffee, and saturated fats (refined vegetable and seed oils including corn, sunflower, safflower, soybean and cottonseed oils).
Chemical toxins are found in different cleaners, personal care products (toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, makeup) and Bisphenol – A (BPA – found in water bottles, food containers and food packaging).
Heavy metals are toxins as well. These include mercury (which may be commonly found in fish), lead, cadmium and arsenic (which may be commonly found in rice).
Toxins build up and create a toxic load. 3 things influence the build up:
- Your microbiome (gut bacteria).
- Your individual genetics (detox pathway and immune system reactivity).
- Your environmental exposures
