What is Clear Path Wellness?

Clear Path Wellness is the Integrative Psychiatry and Functional Medicine practice of Laurie Goldman, MD, that follows a holistic approach to wellness and prevention. To learn more, please check out our about page.

About Us >

How do I schedule an appointment?

Dr. Goldman is not currently accepting new patients. Please check back in 3 months to see if this has changed.

Why don't you accept insurance?

Unfortunately, when doctors participate with insurance carriers, they enter into a contract that allows the insurance companies to dictate what services will be supplied limiting the quality of care that we believe you deserve.

As the costs of keeping a clinic running have continued to rise, reimbursement has fallen forcing most doctors to see more and more patients a day, keeping office visits very brief. We believe this is substandard care and does not allow us to practice the in-depth, expert model of Functional and Integrative medicine.

Do you accept Medicare or insurance for appointments?

Clear Path Wellness does not participate in Medicare or accept insurance for appointments.

Upon request, we can provide you with a copy of your invoices which you can submit to your insurance company. We cannot guarantee what reimbursement, if any, you may receive. We do not submit claims or call insurance companies directly. This is the responsibility of the patient.

Medicare patients must sign a supplemental contract that confirms their acknowledgment that our services can not be submitted/are not eligible for reimbursement.

You may want to consider programs designed to give individuals tax advantages, which help offset healthcare costs, such as Health Savings Accounts (HSAs), Medical Savings Accounts (MSAs), Health Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) or Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRAs).

Will Dr. Goldman be my primary care physician?

Dr. Goldman is a medical doctor, psychiatrist, and functional medicine practitioner. She will be able to address all of your health care needs. However, she cannot function as your primary care provider in the sense the insurance determines this.

You will need to maintain a separate PCP for insurance purposes. If you do not have a PCP, she will recommend one for you.

Can I consult with Dr. Goldman if I live outside of Illinois?

Dr. Goldman is not able to accept patients outside of the United States. She currently has licensure or has applied for licensure in Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Missouri, Ohio, and Wisconsin.

How many visits will I need?

This depends on the complexity of your problem. We require at least a 6-month engagement for treatments to result in significant change. Most clients work with us for 12 months or more.

Can I bring a friend or family member to the appointment?

Absolutely, we encourage you to take notes as well. However, we ask you to find childcare for any small children or infants as the appointments are lengthy.

No. We do not treat anyone under 18 years of age.

Do you accept insurance for testing?

Oftentimes, Dr. Goldman orders laboratory testing. Patients can choose to go to the lab of their choice. We encourage patients to find a lab that is covered by/ has a partnership with their insurance company.

Some specialty tests may not be performed by laboratories that partner with your insurance. Also, some labs may not be covered by your plan. For these scenarios, Dr. Goldman has partnered with certain lab companies that offer her patients lower prices, if needed.

In addition, Dr. Goldman may order an MRI. MRIs are often covered by insurance and patients should check with their insurance company to determine coverage and preferred MRI providers.

Please check with your insurance company regarding deductibles and reimbursements for all ordered testing. It is not the responsibility of Clear Path Wellness to understand your individual insurance coverage.

What tests will I get?

Every plan is unique. We work with you to customize testing orders based on your health needs and personal preferences.
